Q1. In what ways does your media product, use develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Front Cover
Q2. How does your media product represent different social groups?

When typing indie style boy onto google images this is the first image which appeared...
My media product represents different social groups, by my use of artists included as the majority of them are indie/pop punk bands that were results from my questionnaire. Also, the front cover image is in a local skate park and may attract skate boarders who are usually in the social group “indie”. Furthermore, my model is wearing converse which is a semantic of indie so my target audience can associate with her.
Q3. What kind of media instituition might distribute your media product?
(To see the image more clearly click and open the link)
I would choose IPC to distribute my magazine because they already distribute music magazines such as: NME, Uncut and Guitar and Bass this suggests that they know how to market magazines successfully. Also, as IPC do not currently distribute pop punk/indie magazines they will profit and will increase their market share. Also, it would be in competition with Bauer as they are the other big media institution in Britain. http://www.nme.com/home
Q6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? But also how it is powerful to create meanings.
A (Photoshop)
This shows the programme software Photoshop which I used to create my front cover, and alter several of my pictures. Photoshop was important in the making of my production as I was able to brighten my photos and give some of them a higher saturation and hue effect. Also, I was able to flip my photos so they faced different ways so they drew the audience’s attention to certain words and articles. Furthermore I used the quick selection tool to make the background of the front cover image darker than my model so that she stood out against the background.
B (Quark Xpress)
This shows the programme software Quark Xpress which I used to create my double page spread and contents page. I found this software easier to use because the tools were very basic such as there was a photo tool and a text tool they were basically the only tools needed. This software is designed for reporters so are made to be basic as they are not computer logical. This package was easier to use than Photoshop as by drawing picture boxes and the text box tool it was easier to reorganise the layout when it did not work the first two times.
C (Video Camera)
I used the schools video camera to film people anwsering my evalution questions, so that I had a wider range of technology in my media product. I used the tripod so that my film was clear and there was no interference.
D (Dictaphone)
The Dictaphone was vital in the production of my double page spread as I had organised an interview with a student singer Callum Mcmorran and I used the Dictaphone to interview him and his band. This made my article accurate and also easier to produce. Furthermore, I used the Dictaphone in my evaluation to record myself explaining my production step by step.
E (Internet)
I used the internet to research the person I was interviewing on MySpace so that I was able to produce effective questions. Also I researched the different music magazines for my genre pop punk/indie and the types of artists the different social groups prefer who read these magazines.
F (Camera)
I used my own digital camera to take all of my photographs as it was easier to take to gigs as it was smaller. Also my photographs are a good quality as my camera is 10 megapixels, and has various photo effects such as outdoor, indoor and party.
